Freakology - Nike Zoom Freak 4 Launch

We brought Feakology to the streets of Milan & Berlin to promote the launch of the brand new Nike Zoom Freak 4!

Nike organised clinics for local children in both cities, where young athletes were able to step into Giannis’ shoes, and learn his signature moves from expert coaches. We were eager to bring the essence of Freakology to a wider audience, extending it from the courts of the camp to the city streets & a global audience online.

Milan

Our journey began in Milan, where we visited three basketball courts and engaged with the local basketball community. We hosted competitions, where local athletes showcased their skills and battled to win Nike Freak merchandise. Some lucky players even walked away with their own pair of Nike Zoom Freak 4s. 

Berlin

After Milan, we moved to Berlin, where we visited more local basketball courts and brought the Freakology vibes to the cities basketball community. Each court had its own character, and the local players brought their own unique game to the challenges we hosted.

Eurobasket

Giannis himself was also present in both cities, representing Greece in Eurobasket and we were lucky enough to witness the Greek Freak in action on the big stage. Seeing the buzz that the tournament created amongst local basketball fans, was the perfect showcase for the universal appeal of the global game. What made the project even more thrilling was when Giannis reposted some of our content on his personal Instagram story – the second time he had done so in the year! 

Freakology Reflection

The Freakology project received more than 1.5 million total engagements online and can be regarded as a great success. But the numbers only tell part of the story. The bigger triumph was the way basketball brought people together in these cities, creating a unique buzz, forging new connections, and inspiring young athletes to chase their ‘overseas’ hoop dreams.

This collaboration with Nike was a reminder of why we started SBB in the first place. It was about more than bringing Freakology to the world; it was about celebrating the game of basketball, its power to connect, and its ability to inspire communities.
